Second council meeting
By Thom Millward, CLAPA council member.
On April 5th 2008 the CLAPA Children and Young people’s Council (and Mike Clegg, the website designer) met at the Hard Rock Café in Manchester, where we were treated to a delicious lunch. We then moved to the Britannia Hotel where CLAPA had booked a suite for the meeting to be held.
The meeting started by everybody telling everyone else what they had completed since the last meeting. All the Council Members had been given roles; some of us had been doing fundraising for CLAPA, others had been looking at making a CLAPA page on chat room sites and I was given the job to look at the website proposal.
We then talked to Mike Clegg, the website designer, about the new websites; there were lots of ideas about the websites and the characters that had been designed for the Children’s Site. After we had looked at, and commented on the websites, we had a good idea of what they were going to look like and we left Mike to make a few changes following our discussion!
Next we discussed what we would do for the next meeting in Edinburgh. Some people were given the role of looking at promotion and fundraising for CLAPA. I was asked to write this page (!) and all of us were thinking up new names for the children and young people’s website – it was decided they would be called CLAPAKidz and CLAPAEdge! I hope you like them!
The Council is still looking for new members – I really enjoy being part of the council because I’ve met some good people and had a chance to see how CLAPA works plus we make a contribution to what Children & Young Peoples’ Services they offer – I’ve also got an article in print – can’t be bad!
Thanks
