About the council
CLAPA's Children & Young People's Council is made up of eleven children and young people aged between nine and seventeen years old. They were all born with a cleft lip and/or palate.
The purpose of the council is to act as an advisory body to CLAPA about the services it offers which effect children and young people. The Council meets four times a year in different locations across the UK and discusses many issues. Since the beginning of 2008 the Council has been involved with the design of this website as well as the children’s website – clapakidz.com. The Council has also looked at designing and producing new children’s leaflets and as well as giving ideas about how to make the yearly summer camps even better.

Joining the council
If you would like to become a council member and you are aged between nine and seventeen years old all you have to do is fill out the three-paged application form and send it back to Claire at CLAPA saying why you would like to be involved.
Once Claire has received the completed application form she will take it to the next meeting of the council for the members to see. A decision will be made after that time. The council would really like some new members so please do apply.
