Hi its me rachel! im really scared about my bone graft operation.please can u tell me how to stop worrying?

Dr Clip says:

It can feel scary to be having an operation. These are some things that people are scared of:

·         Having a needle

·         Going to sleep for an anaesthetic

·         Staying in hospital

·         Feeling pain

·         Missing school

Which of these things are you scared of?

Usually, if you can think what it is that you find scary you can talk to the doctor, nurse or psychologist with your cleft team and they will try to find ways to help. If you were scared of having a needle, then the doctor might be able to find a way for you to have the needle put in while you were asleep. Or, you might be able to have someone take your mind off the needle by helping you to play a computer game or by talking to you while the needle was being put in.

It’s hard for me to know how to help when I am not sure what you are scared of. Let me know what you are worried about and I might be able to give you some better ideas.
